This is the turntable drive in play mode. The motor turns the twin belts that turn the large pulley, this turns the connected small pulley with a rubber rim that turns the actual record mounting platter. To ensure correct speed, the motor must be good, the belts good (and the correct length/thickness and the rubber rim on the drive pulley must have the correct o/d.
My motor seems to be good, and the drive belts are new original Chantal Meteor stock. The drive rubber is new from Stamann's. The original had to be cut off the shaft, so I think they may have originally been bonded on. When checking the turntable speed with the strobe disc, it was running slightly slow. I corrected this by adding four layers of electrical tape to the metal shaft before refitting the drive rubber. This increased the o/d of the drive rubber. It was trial and error, but the speed is now spot on.
